Toby Ryan is a veteran journalist who has covered the tech and entertainment industry for more than 20 years. He joined Tech4Hacks as editor in chief at its inception in 2017. During his career, he has written for numerous magazines and online publications, including Esquire, The New Yorker, and IndieWire. A Boston native, he now resides in Los Angeles and has happily adapted to the West Coast lifestyle.
Geneva joined Tech4Hacks in 2019 as Senior Managing Editor. She spearheaded the Tech4Hacks Diversity Initiative. She is the New York–based editor, and prior to joining Tech4Hacks, she was a content strategist at Vox. She oversees a range of missions, including educational initiatives, original content, and events. She is a co-founder of educational workshops for aspiring journalists, and teaches film criticism at NYU.
Vanessa joined Tech4Hacks in 2018 and manages the editorial team. In addition to overseeing operations for the Tech4Hacks New York and Los Angeles-based teams, she is responsible for editorial standards, strategy, traffic growth, and broader organizational goals. She graduated from UCLA with a Masters in Journalism, and started her career as a reporter at the LA Times.
Derek joined Tech4Hacks as a LA-based contributor before becoming Senior Staff Editor in 2020. He leads tech and news coverage. where he writes reviews, covers the latest products and news, and provides extensive analysis related to today’s technology. Prior to joining Tech4Hacks, Derek served as a staff writer for Digital Hollywood for nearly five years. He has also copy-edited various publications and holds degrees in both journalism and design.
Mattie joined Tech4Hacks in 2017 as a staff writer. Some of his previous work can be found at Rolling Stone, The Verve, Vulture, and New York Daily News. He has served on juries and nominating committees for many well-known national tech awards and festivals. He holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in Journalism, both from Drexel University.
New York–based Staff Writer at Tech4Hacks, Piper Triplett is responsible for running the site’s daily tech news flow, in addition to crafting larger editorial pieces and covering special tech events. Prior to joining Tech4Hacks, she received her B.A. in Media Studies from Emerson College, where she worked the Boston press circuit for three years. She then went on to freelance for several online tech publications, before landing at Tech4Hacks.
Emma Porter is a Staff Writer for Tech4Hacks. Along with being a skilled writer, she is also responsible for overseeing advertising and sponsorship in addition to leading development and business strategies. She began her career at Tech4Hacks providing daily coverage of new and upcoming technology advancements. She is originally from Seattle, but is now based in Los Angeles.
Jere Burnham is a Los Angeles-based staff writer for Tech4Hacks, where he focuses on advancements in technology and reviews the latest tech products. In 2016, he teamed up with a number of black tech bloggers to create and established a renowned New Black Voices in Technology Festival, which takes place annually in Brooklyn, New York.
